The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, visits the Gonzaga Campus in Palermo

An alumna of St. Aloysius College in Malta and the current President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, paid a visit to the Gonzaga Campus in Palermo.

Welcoming her were the General Director Father Vitangelo Denora SJ, Vice Director Maria Elena Poderati, the Board of Directors, and a delegation of former students from the campus.

During the welcome, the President was honored with a plaque to commemorate the significant event. The inscription on the plaque reads, ‘To Roberta Metsola, with the wish that she may continue to elevate the dignity of the weakest and most vulnerable in Europe‘.

The President was also welcomed by the students of the Gonzaga Campus, to whom Roberta Metsola mentioned the values she acquired during her years of study, which led her to active political participation. ‘I am in Sicily to send a message to the young people,’ said the President. ‘At school, I learned the values of community and tolerance in the respect of diversity. The commitment is to try to represent the main requests that come from the youth’.

‘Change can be the result of our participation,’ Metsola continued. ‘So my invitation is to be protagonists, engaged in the life of your territory without being passive spectators’.

As a Foundation, we want to thank the President of the European Parliament for visiting the students of the Gonzaga Campus, encouraging them to be the heart of change together.
