In Sacrofano (Rome), from October 24th to October 27th, the new edition of the Secondary School Heads Conference is taking place. This conference is organized by JECSE (the Jesuit European Committee for Primary and Secondary Education) and brings together Educational Coordinators and administrative staff from all Jesuit schools in Europe.

The focus of this year, summarized by the Gospel expression ‘He sent them two by two…’, is that of accompaniment. School administrators are involved in guiding schools and the individuals entrusted to them to the heart of the Ignatian tradition (indeed, the conference’s title is ‘Accompaniment: walking with our colleagues from and into the heart of our Ignatian tradition’).

During the meeting, presided over by Agnieszka Baran, Director of JECSE and Delegate for Education of the JCEP (Jesuit Conference of European Provincials), participants are called upon to reflect on and explore the various challenges posed by the educational mission in the complex context offered by post-pandemic Europe.

Through presentations, debates, group work, and moments of personal reflection and discussion, delegates from all European countries hosting the Company’s schools or educational centers. Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Malta, Ireland, Great Britain, Poland, Hungary, Germany are urged to consider the best ways to accompany others so that they can personally experience the hope that Jesus brings and transmit it to other school professionals who depend on them.

Representing the Euromediterranean Province are:
Edwin Ungaro (Aloysius, Malta), Elisabetta Novelli (Massimo, Rome), Flavia Liggi (Sociale, Turin), Katia Zappia (S. Ignazio, Messina), Luca Imperatore (Sociale, Turin), Vitangelo Denora (Milan and Palermo), Alice Zanardi (Leone XIII, Milan), Antonio Bertolotti (Leone XIII, Milan), Vito Chiaramonte (Gonzaga, Palermo), Giuseppe Formica (S. Ignazio, Messina).

It is an important experience that will leave a mark, allowing us once again to confront the present and the new challenges it presents through the teachings of the Ignatian tradition.
