Sport educators training on the go!
Leone XIII Sport, a member of the Jesuit Education Foundation, has launched, in collaboration with the Foundation itself, a project for training its Sports Educators.
The first level of intervention is open to a group of educators who have recently started their collaboration with Leone XIII Sport and started on December 4th in Milan. It will be completed with two other training days already scheduled during this academic year. This first step, organized locally, represents for every Sport Educator a step ahead in gaining awareness of the importance of his/her role in the context of a Sport Center of the Society of Jesus, whose declared vision is “Educating through Sport”.
The Program for “Ignatian Sports Educators” is an important training project that the Jesuit Education Foundation desired and launched this year with the clear aim of creating Ignatian “transversal skills” for Sports Educators, which can be summarized in this definition: “The ability to read one’s own sporting experience and that of the athlete in front of us which introduces the attitude of knowing how to reflect to accompany the athlete towards his growth through common sporting objectives, thanks to his ability to transmit values in the appropriate forms of sporting practice (training and competition). “
An ambitious training objective fully in line with the vision and the tradition of the Pedagogy of St. Ignatius, applied to sports, on which the Foundation will invest even more resources and energy in the future, organizing and managing both local and residential network seminars, permanent training courses for “Ignatian sports educators” that take up schemes of progressiveness and continuity, according to the model already successfully tested also in the scholastic field.
