“Sulle acque del tempo”: Carlo Maria Martini’s thought inspires young people

School, community, and spiritual thought come together in the project “Sulle acque del tempo” presented by the students of Class 4C from the Galileo Ferraris Scientific High School in Varese, in collaboration with the Civic Archaeological Museum of Varese, and inspired by the thought and testimony of Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini.

The Cardinal, a Jesuit, biblical scholar, and Archbishop of Milan, left a lasting mark on the history of the Italian Church with his prophetic vision and his ability to foster dialogue. The Carlo Maria Martini Foundation was established to preserve and promote the memory and spiritual legacy of the Cardinal.

Through the lens of Martini’s thought, the students explored in a new way the relationship between humanity, the environment, and the common good, grounding their research in the context of Lake Varese and in particular the Isolino Virginia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The result of their work is a multimedia exhibition composed of texts, photographs, original reflections, and audiovisual materials, structured across several thematic areas.

The exhibition will be open to the public from May 31st to August 31st at the Villa Mirabello Archaeological Museum.

This experience represented a valuable opportunity for the students’ cultural and personal growth, made even richer by engaging with Martini’s ideas – a living thought that continues to speak to new generations and open perspectives for the future.
