Building a world of peace: at Collegio S. Ignazio in Messina, an exhibition that educates to awareness and responsibility
From May 21 to 26, 2026, Collegio S. Ignazio in Messina will host the exhibition “Building a World of Peace” at the Palacultura Antonello da Messina. An experiential and participatory journey inviting students, families, and citizens to reflect on the meaning of peace in today’s world, transforming the exhibition into a space of encounter, dialogue, and shared awareness.
In a time marked by conflicts, polarization, and social fragilities, the exhibition was created with the desire to educate people to look at reality differently: not only by recognizing the tensions of the present, but also by learning to identify the concrete signs of peace that already exist in everyday life, relationships, and communities.
The exhibition begins with the idea of a “disarmed and disarming peace”, an expression that evokes a peace born not from force, but from relationships, listening, and mutual responsibility. Peace is therefore presented not as an abstract or distant concept, but as a process that concretely involves the way we communicate, relate to others, and inhabit the world.
The exhibition unfolds through three main sections, designed to gradually guide visitors from personal reflection to concrete action.
The first section, “Faces of Peace”, presents testimonies, experiences, and significant figures that show how peace can take shape through dialogue, culture, research, and small daily gestures. Different stories, united by the ability to transform relationships into opportunities for building the common good.
The second section, “The Power of Communication”, explores the role of language, images, and forms of expression in shaping relationships. In a society crossed by rapid and often conflicting messages, the exhibition encourages visitors to reflect on the weight of words and on communicative responsibility. Communication can fuel division and misunderstanding, but it can also become a tool for listening, empathy, and mutual understanding.
The journey culminates in the section “We, Builders of Peace”, where visitors are directly involved and invited to recognize their personal responsibility in building the common good. Peace is presented not as something entrusted only to institutions or major historical events, but as a daily practice made up of conscious choices, attention to others, and small concrete actions.
A central element of the entire exhibition is the active participation of the students of Collegio S. Ignazio, who contributed through their work and reflections to transform the exhibition into a living, shared, and dialogical space. The exhibition thus takes on a strong educational and communal dimension: not only to convey a message, but to create a vibrant environment in which to develop a critical, responsible, and dialogue oriented perspective.
From this perspective, the initiative fully reflects the educational path of the Ignatian tradition, which places at its center the integral formation of the person and the development of conscious citizenship, capable of combining reflection, responsibility, and attention to the common good.
The exhibition will be open at the Palacultura Antonello da Messina, Viale Boccetta 373, from May 21 to 26, 2026.
